Plaid wins Rhos!!!

We won Rhos- plaid 578 to 344 to Labour.

We have won some seats from labour- Rhos and Godre'r Graig, but lost cwmgwrach to Labour. This is all I know for now.I think we are also fine in crynant.

I now live in a Plaid ward. Well done Councillor Marcia Spooner!

What I now know is that we have won our 2 seats in Glyn Neath, and Ystalyfera, Crynant. We have one seat in Pontardawe ( Linet Purcell) also. We were really close in Labour strongholds Cilfrew, and in Melincryddan, Neath. It was pure gutter campaigning by Labour in Cwmgwrach, but what this election has shown is that Plaid can win anywhere in Neath. Bring on the General election!

It is now 3.45 am and I am off to bed! Nos da!

Brilliant news. It's made my night, and thanks for the info.

I felt sure that Bob Williams would have regained his seat in Pontardawe.

Amazing that Labour have actually increased their majority.

No Plaid in Merthyr though - you ignore the Valleys at your peril Bethan

left field. Yes it is amazing. A challenge for us over the next 4 years

valleys mam- I have no intention of ignoring the valleys. Plaid centrally MUST invest more in the valleys areas that I admit, and I have, and will continue to argue this case with those that make such decisions over priority in campaigning.

Bethan you are right Labour led a shameful and disgusting campaign in Cwmgwrach, gutter politics is putting it nicely. I am afraid Plaid helped them a lot by being defensive instead of attacking they allowed labour to make the running using the Neath Guardian, which was slightly biased towards the Friends of the Cabin and putting posters out early, it was then in peoples minds ,they also have their own website.
Why didn't Plaid use the "Conditions Report" by Neath Port Talbot Council stating it would cost £73,000 to repair. Also in the Guardian this week the Police stated in a Pact meeting that the crime levels have gone down since the Cabin has been closed. Why wasn't this mentioned and the Friends stated themselves that it would take 4 to 5 years to make the Cabin fit to pass inspection. Plaid lost the election for themselves Labour didn't win it

rog, if you read the article in the Guardian where I attacked Derek Vaughan on thnis issue it makes it very clear my opinions on the conditions report. A 'lick of paint' was all that Derek Vaughan said it needed, which his very own officials refute. When I had a meeting with him following this press statement, he stated on the record that he would not fund the youth service in the area. We did attack, but it wasn't published in local papers or made clear. We have lessons to learn on this, especially that Labour can be vicious and tag on to certain issues.

We put out numerous newsletters on this issue as well as handing out the conditions report on the doorstep to those who were believing the cabin campaigners spin.

We run the community council so we will definitely be holding the new Labour Councillor to account and will watch with interest what they do in the area.
