Regardless of the work status of the women, I believe that the comments of this reporter are totally and utterly unacceptable- whether it is in the Daily Mail or the Evening Star. I was appalled when I read it, especially this comment- and I hope you are too.
'We do not share in the responsibility for either their grubby little existences or their murders. Society isn't to blame.
It might not be fashionable, or even acceptable in some quarters, to say so, but in their chosen field of "work'=", death by strangulation is an occupational hazard.
That doesn't make it justifiable homicide, but in the scheme of things the deaths of these five women is no great loss'.

The comment isn't just sexist. It's absolutely disgusting. The girls sold sex for a living. So what? Selling sex as a commodity is no crime, and has a history as old as civilization, for both sexes and sexual orientations.
If men didn't buy sex, there would be no prostitution. I disagree with current proposals to criminalize men who buy sex - as long as there is no trafficking, and women on low incomes or addicted to drugs aren't forced into it, there's no crime in my view.
Prostitution, as much as it may disgust some, is legitimate, if there is no coercion or need due to drug addiction. But such cases of fully consenting prostitutes who don't 'need' money for rent or drugs are rare. But pity girls who feel they have no choice. As for these girls, they were cruelly murdered - human beings who feel pain and misery. They had families and friends who loved them, and who they loved. How can anybody say that they were no loss to society?
Its a disgraceful set of comments, but not surprising sadly considering who the author is.
This man is beyond the pale, but sadly all to typical of the Daily Mail mindset.
One wonders if Littlejohn would be spewing the same sexist bile if it were HIS daughter lying in a ditch, having been murdered by a maniac holding the same prejudices as our fearless reporter.
Shame on you Littlejohn.
