Grav the Legend.

Yesterday I went to Bridgend to see the art work on display of those who attend the weekly Stroke group in the care of Karyl Carter. Peter Harris was selling his art, and told me all about his wood turning work, and how he would not have continued with it had it not been for the stroke group and its support.

Also pictured is Stephen Morgan who won the Susie Hulks Art Award at The Stroke Association's Life After Stroke Awards in London in May this Year. It was great to see their work and to see their enthusiasm. Nevertheless, the group are still fighting for the funding for Karyl's position as the Community support Officer- £15,000 in total per year in order to keep the Bridgend and Maesteg group running. I have raised this issue with Edwina Hart, but I will be doing so again in light of the fact that the funding comes to an end in March.

In other news, as you may know, Ray Gravell died today. I was in the gym when I saw the news on the BBC, and was totally shocked. He was a marvellous ambassador for Wales, and a really lovely man. I last spoke to him a month ago when I was at the Swansea Studio, ready to go on Good Morning Wales. Grav was recording his show live from the other studio, and he bounced in to say hello, and to show me his WRU leg! When he found out that I was a Plaid Politician, and a member of his favourite band- Gilespi, he ran back to his studio to play one of our songs! He also rung my office later that day to have a chat, and to offer help with anything, any time. I was very touched. I would like to send my sympathy to his family. He will be deeply missed.

A campaign has been launched to re-name the "Prince William Cup" to "Cwpan Ray Gravell". I read about here.

And a Facebook Group has also been created on the same issue!

Contact the WRU - info@wru.co.uk - urging them to change the name. This would be a perfect tribute to the Great Ray Gravell in my view.

Maybe you could raise the issue at the National Assembly and with the WRU Bethan?

Any chance of this getting a mention in the Senedd?

I will raise it as a question this week.

Whilst I wholeheartedly support the campaign to rename the cup in memory of Grav, can we please not politicise this issue? This is a time to remember a true Welshman and a great sportsman who was respected universally both at home and internationally.

Ar Last Word dydd gwener diwethaf fe ddewisodd y bbc Neil Kinnock i dalu teyrnged. Dewis sarhaus. Fe aeth ymlaen i awgrymu fod ray, fel aelod o'r blaid o blaid llosgi tai saeson.

A fedrech chi gymeryd hwn i fynny gyda'r BBC? 'Rwy wedi methu cysylltu a nhw naill ai ar y we neu ar y phon.

I have no intention of politicising the issue
