Rhodri Morgan's sudden obsession with opinion polls

Later tonight, Rhodri Morgan will say this at the private members Athenaeum Club in Pall Mall:
'What do the public of Wales want now? Do they want a Labour-led administration or do they want a Plaid Cymru-led administration? Answers on a postcard please."

This after saying yesterday that there should be a public opinion poll on who should be the First Minister of Wales.

Suddenly, Rhodri wants to put everything to public opinion, just to be sure. If you want to be pedantic about arguing for public scrutiny on a regular basis, why was there not such a plan when discussing the reconfiguration of the Health Service in Wales before the election?

Come on Rhodri, your stronger than that. Make a decision for yourself!

Rhodri Morgan yn darganfod esgus defnyddiol mewn barn cyhoeddus

Yn hwyrach heno, bydd Rhodri Morgan yn dweud hyn i Glwb Aelodau Preifat Athenaeum yn Pall Mall:

'What do the public of Wales want now? Do they want a Labour-led administration or do they want a Plaid Cymru-led administration? Answers on a postcard please."

Mae hyn ar ol datgan ddoe y dylai yna fod arolwg barn cyhoeddus ar pwy y dylai Prif Weinidog Cymru nesaf fod. Yn sydyn iawn, mae Rhodri eisiau mesur bob dim yn erbyn barn cyhoeddus, er mwyn bod yn hollol sicr.

Os wyt ti am fod yn hollol gywir am ddadlau o blaid craffiad cyhoeddus rheolaidd, pam nad oedd cynllyn tebyg pan yn trafod ad-drefnu'r Gwasanaeth Iechyd yng Nghymru cyn yr etholiad?

C'mon Rhodri, ti'n gryfach na hyn. Gwna benderfyniad dy hun!

Cytuno gyda dy sylwdau, Bethan - ond efallai fod hyn yn datgelu llawer mwy a feddylfryd y grwp Llafur. Rwyf newydd droi fy sylw at fy ngardd, a gwylio dau aderyn du yn brwydro yn galed. Dechreuais feddwl, efallai mai dyna sut mae Llafur yn gweld y sefyllfa. Hynny yw, maent yn gobeithio na fydd yna gytundeb, yn arwain at rownd arall o etholiadau - rhai y maent yn bwriadu cwffio fel brwydr Ieuan/Plaid a Rhodri/Llafur. Mae'n esboniad arall, yn hytrach na'r un eu bod yn gobeithio ail-adeiladu fel gwrthblaid.

I agree with the comments, Bethan - but maybe this sheds light on the thoughts of the Labour group. I just turned my attention to my garden, and saw two blackbirds battling it out. I started thinking, maybe that's how Labour see it. That is, they hope that no on will agree on anything, leading to another round of elections - one they mean to fight as a straight-out battle between Ieuan/Plaid an Rhodri/Labour. It provides another explanation, rather than the one that they want to rebuild in opposition.

Rhodri knows he has been stitched up by his own party and has until 2pm tomorrow to offer Plaid a worthy deal. I actually feel sorry for him becuase I am convinced that he could have nailed a deal with Plaid, if he had been given the clearance to do so.

Messrs Hain, Andrews, Lewis & Davies had other ideas.

Cymro- I woudn't rule anything out at this stage although I find it hard to believe that anyone could want another election now.

Ian- He can still nail a deal with Plaid. Andrews and Lewis are only part of the group. There are other AM's that should be able to speak up for themselves!

No, I think most people want a stable government, not another election. But where Huw Lewis and Leighton Andrews and their friends are concerned, the might well prefer that, and might think they have a chance of getting a few seats back, if they can define it as some sort of apocalyptic battle with Labour against the forces of evil.

Pa Blaid fuase gyda'r arian i ymladd etholiad arall?

Yn sicr, nid Llafur, yn arbennig mewn seddi fel Aberconwy lle d'oedd dim arian o gwbwl wedi cael ei rhoi i Denise i gadw ei sedd.

Wyrach fod Leighton 'Millionaire' Andrews yn barod i bancrolio'r ail etholiad!
