I've just been watching the men's final at Wimbledon between Federer and Nadal. A great game I have to say, and a chance to forget about politics for a while. I was suprised to learn that Federer is only 25- the same age as me. He's won 5 Wimbledon titles now- an excellent acheivement. (But notice that nobody tells him that he is too young to win a competition of that stature!) Perhaps now that he has won 5 times, there will be a chance for a new talent to come through and win next year. My favourite player ever has to be Ivanisevic, but perhaps Andy Murray can win next year to put us Celts on the Tennis map!
I missed the Women's final at Wimbledon between Venus and Bartoli, and I must say I enjoy watching the Williams sisters play. They are strong, feisty women- just as every woman should be! It was also great to see that women were paid the same as men this year in terms of competition money after years of debate concering the importance of initiating such a policy. At last, Wimbledon has grown up, and has arrived at the doors of the Twenty first Century!
Of course, I couldn't blog today without mentioning the fact that I am very pleased about the fact that coalition discussions are now over, and that Plaid Cymru and Labour are entering Government together in Cardiff Bay. I believe that there is a photo op tomorrow in Cardiff Bay, and then Ieuan Wyn Jones will make a statement about who from Plaid will be in the new Cabinet. I have a few ideas of who might be in the Cabinet, but I am confident that Ieuan will make the right decision ( I don't think that I'll be in there somehow, but I'm quite happy to be Minister for Youth!!!)
At the end of the day, Plaid has to now work to make sure that the One Wales document is implemented and that the people of Wales see how effective and strong Plaid Cabinet Ministers will be. Time will tell whether or not we will be successful, but one thing is sure- we will put 100% in to making our new role at the Assembly as effective and as vibrant as possible.
So, an historical weekend for Federer, and an equally historical weekend for Plaid Cymru.....
...........................................................................................
Rwyf wedi bod yn gwylio rownd derfynol gem sengl dynion Wimbledon heddiw- Ferderer yn erbyn Nadal. Gem gwych rhaid dweud, a siawns i anghofio am wleidyddiaeth am sbel. Roeddwn i wedi synnu mai 25 oed yw Federer- yr un oedran a mi. Mae o wedi ennill Wimbledon 5 gwaith nawr- buddugoliaeth gwych iddo (ond sylwer nad oes neb yn dweud wrtho ef ei fod yn rhy ifanc i fod yn ennill cystadleuthau o'r fath safon!) Efallai nawr ei fod wedi ennill 5 gwaith, y bydd siawns i rhywun newydd, ffres ennill blwyddyn nesaf. Fy hoff chwaraewr i fyth oedd Ivanisevic, ond falle fydd Andy Murray yn ennill y flwyddyn nesaf ac yn rhoi ni'r Celtiaid ar y map tennis.
Nes i fethu'r gem menywod rhwng Venus a Bartoli, ond rwy'n hoff o weld y chwiorydd Williams yn ware. Mae nhw'n menywod cryf a 'feisty'- just fel dylai pob menyw fod! Roedd hi'n dda gweld bod y menywod yn cael eu talu yr un canran a'r dynion eleni hefyd, ar ol blynyddoedd o drafod a dadlau ynghylch swyddogaeth caniatau polisi o'r fath. O'r diwedd, mae Wimbledon wedi tyfu'n rhan o'r Unfed Ganrif ar hugain.
Wrth gwrs, dwi ddim yn gallu postio heddiw heb ddweud fy mod i'n falch bod y trafodaethau clymblaid wedi dirwyn i ben, ac fod Plaid Cymru a'r Blaid Lafur yn ffurfiol Llywodraeth ym Mae Caerdydd. Mi fydd na 'photo op' yn Mae Caerdydd fory dwi'n credu, ac wedyn mi fydd na datganiad gan Ieuan ynghylch pwy fydd yn y Cabinet( paid poeni, sai'n credu fydda i yno rhywsut, os na fyddaf yn Weinidog dros Bobl Ifanc!!!) Mae gen i gryn syniad o bwy fydd yn rhan o'r Cabinet, ond rwy'n hyderus y bydd Ieuan yn gwneud penderfyniad doeth.
Ar ddiwedd y dydd, mae'n rhaid i ni fel plaid sicrhau bod y ddogfen Cymru'n Un yn cael ei weithredu, ac fod pobl yn gweld bod Gweinidogion Plaid Cymru yn gryf ac yn effeithiol. Amser a ddengys pa mor llwyddiannus byddem wrth y llyw, ond rwy'n gwybod y byddem yn rhoi 100% mewn i'n rol newydd yn y Cynulliad.
Felly, penwythnos hanesyddol i Federer ac yn sicr, penwythnos hanesyddol i Blaid Cymru....
