A summer holiday read( for politics enthusiasts)

If you are going to read anything this summer, please read this book by Mark Thomas, the comedian/ political activist. Its very funny, but at the same time it is very informative- an eye opener on how the Labour Government at Westminster addresses the arms trade agenda. It also outlines Mark Thomas's opinions of the workings of Multi National arms dealers such as BAE systems who are, according to the book, subsidised immensley by Government( 313,106.30 per year as an estimation)
It explains the fact that even those rebel MP's such as Robin Cook could not succeed in down playing the influence of the industry on Government, and how they too were sucked in to the bureaucracy surrounding arms dealerships.
...............................................................................
Os ydych am ddarllen unrhywbeth dros yr haf, rwy'n argymell eich bod yn darllen y llyfr yma gan Mark Thomas. Mae e'n lyfr doniol tu hwnt, ond ar yr un llaw, yn llawn wybodaeth- yn agoriad llygaid ynghylch sut yn gwmws mae'r Llywodraeth Llafur yn San Steffan yn ymdrin a'r diwydiant arfau.
Mae'r llyfr hefyd yn tanlinellu barn Thomas ar sut mae cwmniau arfau megis Systemau BAE yn gweithio, a sut mae cwmniau o'r fath yn cael arian gan y Llywodraeth ( £313,106.30 yw'r amcangyfrif) Mae'n tynnu sylw at y ffaith bod ASau a oedd unwaith yn rebelio yn erbyn gweithredoedd cwmniau o'r fath yn cael eu tynnu i fewn i'r system, ac yn dod o dan ddylanwad cryf y cwmniau arfau.

Bethan
Robert Fisk's The Great War For Civilisation also features some very good work on the arms trade.

It is about 1,300 pages long, mind, so you need quite a few lazy summer afternoons to read it.

Thanks, I'll check it out. Whether I have any lazy time left after next week is another issue all together though!
